11.11.12

The Quest

I like 'tournament-style' movies and The Quest is one of the bests in its category.

My favorite movie from JCVD, despite his lack of emotions and acting skill. Anyway, you won't have a problem to enjoy the movie by only watching the fights and the sceneries. My words.

Office Space

One word: hilarious.

Can't believe Milton got fired, but still goes to work (without getting paid)...in the dark and disgusting basement.

And you also won't believe he really burt down the entire building. Epic. Should I consider him one of my idols?

Nightmare Before Christmas

Euh...is this a Halloween or Christmas movie? After all these years, still not quite sure.

To keep it simple:
    - The story is kind of special.
    - Don't like the porcelaine-ish graphic style.
    - Characters are unusual. (They ruined the name of 'Sally')
    - Songs are smooth to the ear.

Well, this is prolly Tim Burton's best work. I find.

8.8.12

Eragon

Here is another example of a stupid teenager boy as main character. His immaturity and ignorance caused Jeremy Iron/Brom's death while wanting to save his worthless life. The poor man got shot in the heart by a soldier...in the middle of the movie (not the end). -_-"

Other than Brom, the useless-but-lucky boy, also got Saphira's help. Pfffff!!! Otherwise, how would he be able to achieve what he did and still be alive at the end of the movie???

Honestly. It is not a problem if you are mentally slow, but make sure your appearance covers the gap. If not? Well...it's a lost case.

31.7.12

Miss Congeniality I & II

This movie has always been and will always be on my top 10 list.

Can I say that Sandra Bullock was at her highest peak at that time?
She is absolutely FABULOUS...and armed. So, be careful.

8.7.12

Maid In Manhattan

This movie is certainly one of Jlo's best. All actors were well chosen. Well~ You can't really go wrong with one-of-Hollywood's-most-charming-actors...Ralph Fiennes. *melting*

Other than that, I loved the story. Very unusual and unrealistic, but definitely romantic enough to make innocent women dream.

+++ I do love Jennifer Lopez (now), but you have got to admit that Natasha Richardson was way more attractive back then.

Look at the purse!!!

OMG! Just noticed that I have the same penguin plush at home. LOL

Siiigh!!! Still can't believe Natasha Richardson passed away. ~^_^~

Parent Trap (1998)

In your face!  (To whom I had this discussion, can't remember) I told you it wasn't the Olsen's, but Lindsay Lohan playing both twins. Mwahahahah!!!!

Lindsay Lohan was actually once talented. Orz

Wouldn't it be so amazing to have such good looking AND rich parents?

Love. Natasha Richardson. Still can't believe she died while taking a ski lesson (not actually skiing on a mountain), here in Quebec, Canada. Tssssssk. No wonder why people prefer going to the States instead of Canada. Sound safer.

16.5.12

Independence Day

Not really a good movie to watch on July the 4th for New Yorkers, is it? Why do everybody have to aim the majestic Empire State building? Can't you do like Cobra Commander and go destroy the Eiffel Tower instead? Sigh!

To tell you the truth...I liked the alien crew better than the human race. Does that make me a traitor? Is that bad? Well, not my fault if they are much cuter.

9.5.12

Aeon Flux & Ultraviolet

I see the two of them in the same category. Both, whether it is Milla Jovovich or Charlize Theron, they are beautiful main female leads with a sexy-futuristic look.

Eventhough, their suits put their perfect body in display, I did not like their hairstyle at all. Don't get me wrong, I love the colors, just not the cut.

Beside my main women's physical appearance (a win for Charlize since she's wearing black, but also a win for Milla since she has a nicer sword, which brings us to a tie), all scenes were nicely shot and I liked the architectural design of all places.

Conclusion: watch it only for your eyes, because the story is not developed enough. Cheeeeea!!!

6.5.12

The Avengers

Secretly hoping that my contribution to The Avengers' first weekend box office will make a difference...make a sky high profit...bigger than Titanic's. *crossing fingers*

G.E.N.I.U.S. is the only word that comes to mind. Seriously, where else can you find such a good storyline and amazing cast? Wordless level of eye candy from second 1 till the ending credit. What more can you ask? Having Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Helmsworth as Thor, Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Scarlett Johanson as Black Widow, and Cobie Smulder as Agent Maria Hill.

The only downside is prolly the fact that Samuel Jackson got too much screentime, but on the other hand...

...my favorite and world-saving Iron Man still got his charm, if not, even more. Moreover, he is probably the only person on earth who can have that level of charisma without me having a word of complaint.

24.3.12

Lord of the Rings

The first impression I got/the first word I can find - LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG

Anyhow, the story is sort of good, but I have no further comments. Just don't understand why the main character/the 'hero' of the story has to be weak. He literally can't accomplish the mission if it wasn't for his friends' help.

Characters:
Frodo - is a real joke (don't know if you noticed, but his fingers are scary)
Samwise - should be the hero
Merry and Pippin - makes a lovely couple, always there to help one another
Randalf - fulfills his tasks till his last breath...brave
Saruman - AWEsome
Smeagol - the little preeecious
Legolas - useless despite his keuwl elf-look

Special effects are beautifully done. Same for costumes and makeups................it is visually nice.

The soundtrack, well, it's good, but I've heard better.

End.

PS. Hope my post wasn't too long for you. >_<

19.3.12

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

*Sigh* Took me 4 attempts to finish the entire movie. (Well, it is already better than Underworld: Rise of the Lycans and P.S. I Love you, which the ending is still a mystery to me. See how the cast is important?)

Me no understand why this piece got such a high rating and so many awards?
    - Dialogues suck
    - Wires from fight scenes can clearly be seen (especially the chase on the bamboos)
    - Why does Chow Yun-Fat insist on helping her/lead her to the right path, if she clearly doesn't want to? Such a waste of time.
    - Zhang Ziyi looks like a miserable peasant, which is nothing new to me.

Seriously, if it wasn't for Michelle, I won't watch this thing in a gazillion years. She's honestly the heart and soul of the movie.

Michelle's totally right. Without the sword...she's nothing.

Love this version. The whole movie should look like this.

Oh! And, can you see how Michelle stays gorgeous, but not that heartless little #@%!^& who dared to hurt her after beeing defeated. Looser.

*GASP* She kissed him. She KISSED him. That's what I call professionalism.

Pfff!!!! After this movie, I hate her (Zhang Ziyi) guts even more. That little brat who makes everyone's life miserable, because of her unreasonable praised-by-herself ego.

4.3.12

Wanderlust

HIGHlarious. You literally don't have time to get bored. It is laughter from the beginning till the end. Jennifer Aniston's acting and choice of movies are definitely getting better and better...unlike her taste for men. In this movie, you will also see her latest ex, Justin Theroux, the retarded annoying community member. Paul Rudd is obviously a clearer choice.

To leave everything behind in order to seek for one's happiness is good, but do you see how beautiful her bag, sunglasses and shoes are???

Act of Valor

It shows perfectly how brave the US Navy is...each man would die for another.

I was curious to watch the movie because Roselyn Sanchez has her name printed on the casting list. My expectations were set high. Unfortunately, the highest your expectations, the hardest the deception. Her overall screentime is ~7 minutes *cries* and gets beat up by several men.

The first-person shooter filming style is...kind of annoying. It's as bad as shaky cameras. I came out of the theater with a light headache.

26.2.12

Far North

Michelle Yeoh is starring in this film, but NO it isn't an action movie. In fact, it is an unusally dark, but beautifully made movie. At first, it might seem long, but enjoy the stunning sceneries/pictures till the end and you'll get a big surprise...*gaaasp* a breathtaking twist.

Even if the ending suggests that she's psycho, I still take Michelle's side and totally understand her act. Support no matter what.

Must I warn you that the other Michelle has a very annoying laugh?!?

12.2.12

Fearless

Do not rely on IMDB at a 100%.

Fearless is appearing on Michelle Yeoh's filmography list, but after watching the entire movie, which was nearly two hours, and I didn't even see her shadow (not a single screen frame).

Apparently, the director (stupid Ronny Yu...a total shame to all the Yu's) wanted to shorten the movie and chose to cut out her scenes (which wasn't a lot to start with) and some of Jet li's fight scenes were omitted as well.

TSSSSK!!! Who would do that? Who would in a million years expect MICHELLE YEOH, one of the biggest name actress in Asia...an International well-known actress to get cut out?

As an act of rebellion, I am posting the only 2 scenes she was having...which the director cruelly and heartlessly removed.

Note: Jet Li literally flew to Hong Kong, himself, in order to present his apologies to Michelle. Thanks to her high level of understanding and a great heart, everything ended in good terms. They even had the chance to collaborate once again in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor in 2008. Phew!!!

5.2.12

Babylon A.D.

Sister Rebekah is Michelle Yeoh's character's name in the movie.

You can be 400% sure that I didn't appreciate it when she died because of one's stupidity and disobedience. What I mean is that she spent her life raising, caring and protecting that girl and in return she just wanted Vin Diesel to be alive...whom she met for only a day or so. This is ridiculously unfair and not logic.

Note: I apologize for not being able to find the scene where she dies.

1.2.12

Don't Look Back

It is a fairly good psychological story with a rather interesting twist at the end.

If I have to criticize this movie...the only thing I don't get is *spoiler* - why does Sophie Marceau show a face of disgrace when she started to transform into Monica Bellucci? I mean, why the agony? If it was the other way around, it'll make more sense. Oh! That's it, maybe it's Bellucci who was disgusted to see half a face which wasn't hers!?! XD (the best explanation I could find)

Anyway, just to tell you that I would be utterly delighted...even if it is to only get half of Monica's face.

30.1.12

東方三俠

It's a movie I have to watch at least once a year.

Note: In this video, you see Anita more (which is totally normal, because it's her MV...she's the one singing the theme song), but they're all three equally important.

Note 2: Michelle is the only one with martial art skills/background. Look at how graceful her moves are.

Lots of mistakes can be found in the movie (due to numerous/countless times I've watched + it's an old one), but still entertaining.

Moreover, if you watch it, I guarantee you'll recognize a shit load of great and now well-known artists. Just to name a few, we have:
    - Anita Mui (so sad she died at such a young age...great actress and singer)
    - Michelle Yeoh (so sad she's now with Jean Todt and don't act as much as before/semi-retire at a young age)
    - Maggie Cheung (well known in the movie 'Hero')
    - Damian Lau (a veteran in the industry)
    - Anthony Wong (well known for practically all his roles)

26.1.12

Live Free or Die Hard

The 4th Die Hard leads me to one conclusion...John McClane is just full of luck.

How can the fierceful Maggie Q/computer savvy/the one who kicked Bruce Willis' ass/nearly killed him have such an ending?

Maggie Q's death in the elevator shaft.
Pfff Why do people have to cut scenes out? If you want to see her awesomness, you'll have to rent or buy the movie.

Anyway, it is once again a display of injustice.

Die Hard: With a Vengeance

Jeremy Irons aka Simon VS John McClane

I have nothing to say about this, because it'll just sound like if I always take part for the villains. *Sigh* But, seriously!?! It's not my fault if bad guys are always more realistic/down to earth/understandable...and forgivable.

23.1.12

3 Musketeers

The storyline had been modified to adapt and get a better response on the big screen. But, I have no complaints, since I was thoroughly and highly entertained. It is in fact a wonderful family movie.

The whole cast is just...2 thumbs up (+ my friend's 2 thumbs up...I borrowed hers). Needless to say that Milla is fabulous as always.

Milady - could be one of Milla's breakthrough role. This character is quite different from all her other characters (such as Alice in Resident Evil). Like her name, she's a lady with good manners, BUT still has her tough side when the time comes. Anyway, just like it.

Note: I was going to label this post 'stupid death' when she threw herself from that balloon-ship. Phew!!! She comes back at the end, so she'll be in the sequel. Mwahahahah!!!
